Later, "Cotton's Dream" was given the informal name "Nadia's Theme" after it became associated with Olympic gymnast Nadia Comăneci during and after the 1976 Summer Olympics.
The piece was first released on disc as part of the 1971 OST Bless the Beasts and Children soundtrack, then a 1974 cover version by easy listening group Sounds of Sunshine was produced.[1] After it became associated with Comăneci during the 1976 Olympics, the piece was later released as a single in August of that year.
